Softshell or Fully Waterproof: Which Do You Need?
Softshell jackets are lighter, more flexible and water-resistant rather than fully waterproof, a good fit for active roles where movement matters more than heavy rain protection. Fully waterproof jackets use taped seams and higher waterproof ratings, built for sustained outdoor exposure and heavy rain. If your team is regularly exposed to prolonged wet weather, a fully waterproof shell is the safer choice. For most day-to-day site or corporate use, a softshell offers a better balance of comfort and practicality.
Branding Waterproof Jackets: Print or Embroidery?
Embroidery is generally the most durable branding method for softshells and structured jackets. On genuinely waterproof garments, however, the needle punctures from embroidery can compromise the waterproof membrane, so screen printing is usually the better choice for these styles. Check the product page, or get in touch, for the right method for your chosen jacket. Unsure whether embroidery or printing is best? See our workwear branding options guide.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I choose a softshell or a fully waterproof jacket?
Softshells suit active roles and light rain, offering better flexibility and breathability. Fully waterproof jackets, with taped seams and higher waterproof ratings, are the better choice for sustained exposure to heavy rain or harsh outdoor conditions.
What's the difference between a 2-layer and 3-layer softshell?
A 2-layer softshell is lighter and more flexible, suited to indoor or milder conditions. A 3-layer softshell adds a bonded membrane for greater wind and water resistance, better suited to outdoor or colder-weather use.
Can waterproof jackets be embroidered?
They can, but it is not always recommended. Needle punctures from embroidery can compromise the waterproof membrane on some fabrics, and screen printing is often the safer method for genuinely waterproof garments.
Is embroidery or printing better for jackets generally?
Embroidery tends to be more durable on softshells and structured outerwear, giving a premium, long-lasting finish. Printing works well for larger designs, or on waterproof shells where preserving the membrane matters more.
Is logo setup free?
Yes. Free logo setup is included, and your logo can be kept on file for repeat orders.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Many jackets can be ordered individually, while larger team orders benefit from bulk pricing. Get in touch for a tailored quote.
How should branded jackets be cared for?
Follow the washing instructions on the garment label. Avoid fabric softeners, which can reduce water and wind resistance on technical fabrics, and where possible avoid direct heat or ironing over embroidered or printed logos.
